What are the biggest criteria in choosing your personal care?

What are the biggest criteria in choosing your personal care?

STARTING YOUR PERSONAL CARE JOURNEY

With so many options for personal care, it can be difficult to know where to start. There are many factors to consider, such as the type of services, compatibility, and experience. Selecting an in-home caregiver doesn’t have to be stressful! We’ve outlined the following criteria to help you choose the right services for you or your loved one.

TYPE OF PERSONAL CARE SERVICES

Everyone has unique needs based on their age, lifestyle, and health. Determining what type of home care services will provide the best support to you or your loved one is important. At En Su Casa Caregivers, we offer Personal Assistance Services and highly customizable Private Care Services, including…

  • Daily Activities of Living: Personal hygiene, dressing, bathing, cooking, meal prep and transportation.
  • Health: Medication reminders and transportation to appointments.
  • Companionship: Visits to chat, play games, go for walks, or go out somewhere together like the movies or shopping.
  • Household: Assistance with cleaning, laundry, organization, and house-keeping.

LEVEL OF PERSONAL CARE

Next, you need to understand the level of personal care required. The most common options are part-time care and full-time care:

  • Part-Time Care: Assistance during certain hours and/or days of the week. Your loved one may only need help when other family members aren’t available, or on days when they have more appointments or errands.
  • Full-Time Care: 24-hour supervision for individuals experiencing more advanced stages of certain illnesses, disabilities, or recovery. Read our recent blog to learn more about conditions that typically require full-time care. As well as gain an understanding of the biggest benefits of having constant 24/7 support.

EXPERIENCE & TRAINING

You’ll want to make sure that you select a trained caregiver with the proper qualifications to fulfill both the job duties and provide effective support to the care recipient. For example, for those with Alzheimer’s or dementia, you’ll want a caregiver with experience in Memory Care to best navigate those symptoms. Or have the need for mobility assistance with transfers in/out of their bed or shower, it all depends on the amount of support needed.

At En Su Casa, we understand that every individual has unique needs that are dynamic and constantly changing. Our personal care team is always equipped to provide whatever services are needed and all caregivers have been carefully screened and trained to ensure safety and care that you can trust. All caregivers are also required to pass a series of federal, state and industry background checks.

In addition, our personal care services include a thorough in-home care assessment to evaluate each client’s needs and preferences. Prior to beginning services, an in-home safety check is conducted to identify potential hazards and offer solutions. We also provide frequent in-home evaluations and ongoing caregiver supervision.

COMPATIBILITY & COMFORT

Your loved one and their caregiver will spend a lot of time together, so they should have compatible personalities and feel comfortable with one another. At En Su Casa, we understand that integrity, trust, and compassion are incredibly important when it comes to choosing a caregiver. That’s why these traits have served as our core values for the past 20+ years that we’ve been in business.

CONSIDER YOUR FUNDS

The price for personal care can vary based on your loved one’s needs. At En Su Casa Caregivers, we offer Personal Assistance Services that are fully covered by Medicaid, as well as Veteran benefits for those who are eligible. We also offer Private Care Services, which are paid for directly by the client, the client’s family, or through long-term insurance plans.
